Orkney Day 1 - A trip supported by a-n

Farewell Shetland (for a short while!)

The still sea and Fair Isle are looking beautiful tonight whilst sailing to Orkney for a research week, supported by a-n Artist Bursaries!
This award offers funding to artists to undertake self-determined professional development. I was delighted to originally receive this in 2020 but am only just now making the trip.

The bursary will enable me to further a project about WWII-ruin-sites in Scotland's Northern Isles, originally begun in 2015. I will be collecting more visual material from Orkney’s many former military sites, enabling my drawing practice to take new directions in this new landscape.

Very many thanks to a-n for supporting artists, I’m very excited to finally beginning this trip, and look forward to sharing more about this work here over the week.
