‘Immersion’ takes place 3rd – 22nd September 2024, and explores remembered and reimagined landscapes.
The works on show will bring together lots of ideas from primarily the last year. Through drawing, an immersive process which unfolds over time, I’ve been exploring varied sources of inspiration, including rocks, trees, plants, photographs and online maps.
A range of drawing processes will be on show, investigating ambiguity, chance and expanded space in picture-making. Works in colour explore nature’s ephemeral light effects, but colour is also used to imaginatively reinterpret source material, approaching abstraction.
With many thanks to Shetland Arts Development Agency, Creative Scotland and Shetland Islands Council for supporting the development of some of the works which will be exhibited through the VACMA programme.
