Plastiglomerate

Starting from November, a selection of my plastiglomerate drawings will be on show at the Feature Space, Mareel.

Plastiglomerate is a proposed new kind of ‘human-made’ rock, consisting of a mix of melted plastic debris and natural sediment. Samples have been found on shorelines across the world - including here in Shetland. Over the last few months I’ve been drawing ‘plastic rocks’ collected on the islands’ beaches which, though wild-seeming and remote, are too often strewn with plastic detritus and dystopian materials like plastiglomerate.
